Abby Huld, a sophomore, is on the Tumwater dance team. She says that one thing that inspires her is “ Dance, because [it] is what makes me happy, and when I am happy, I am true to myself”. Abby’s favorite things about dance is she gets to hangout with her favorite people and do something she absolutely loves. One of her goals for the season is “to get a new trick, like an ariel”.

Bella Huld is a freshman at Tumwater High School on the Varsity dance team. When asked one thing that keeps her going and inspires she states “My dad always tells me that Huld’s don’t quit”. Bella’s goal for this season is to improve as a dancer, lift her spirits, and have fun. Her favorite thing about dance is “Getting to be with people and improve in the things we do”.

 

 

Madi Cambell is a part of the Tumwater cheer squad. Her favorite thing about cheer is I get to help the crowd have a good experience at the game.” Madi loves to entertain fans at the games and cheer on the football team. She has been and continues to be inspired by making her friends and family smile.  Her goal for this season is “To … grow and make others happy”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Avryl Beriman, a junior,  is a part of Tumwater High School cheer. Avryl states that her favorite part of cheer is “The friendships and team bonding that you build”. Her goal for the season is a little different this year because they don’t have competition, but this year she wants to have fun and cheer on the football players. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Reis Howell, a freshman, is planning on playing basketball for Tumwater high school. His goal for the season is to “make jv as a [freshman]”. Reis’s favorite thing about basketball is being able to compete and have competitive games. One thing that inspires him to do better is having “the never quit mentality”. 

Jianna Wiedenmeyer is a multi-sport athlete, she plays volleyball, basketball, and tennis for Tumwater High School. She says her favorite thing about playing her sports is “ I love the adrenaline rush and the fast paced stress of running across the court. I also love the friends you make and how they have your back and hype you up when you’re feeling down.” Jianna’s goal for the season in tennis is to have fun and only lose at most two times. Then in basketball she wants to score 20 points. One quote that inspires her is “I can do all things [in] Christ who gives me strength” Philippians 4:13.

Jacob Schuster, a senior varsity captain, plays football for Tumwater High School. His favorite thing about football is “the team comradery”. Jacob’s goal for the season is to go undefeated. He talks about how one thing that inspires him to succeed is “My family, because football is [a] way I can give back to them.” 

 

 

 

 

Riley Foster, a senior, plays football for Tumwater High School. His favorite part of Tumwater football is the unity of the team. Riley’s goal for this year is to be undefeated. He states that one thing that inspires him to play is “watching the pros play [football]”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Diamond Calwell, a freshman at Tumwater High School, plays volleyball. This year her goal is to be on varsity. Diamond states that her favorite thing about playing volleyball is “serving”.

Then for track she wants to enjoy the track season with her family and get “high marks”. Alyssa’s favorite thing about track and volleyball is “For volleyball [it’s] being a part of such a fun team and competing together. And for track [it’s] being a part of a big family and being able to compete and support each other”. Something that inspires her to play is all of the coaches at Tumwater, whether they’re her personal coaches or not.

 

 

 

 

 

Leia Clark is a part of the Tumwater High School swim team. Something that inspires her to play and succeed is “The possibility of the future is what inspires me to play my sport – I want to swim in college and maybe even at an Olympic level someday.” One of Leia favorite things about swim teams is sportsmanship. She loves how whether they win or lose everyone is supportive and all that really matters is that the team tried their hardest. Her goal for this year is to “earn my Varsity letter and build good relationships between my teammates and myself that I will never forget.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Maia Nelson is a part of the Swim team at Tumwater High School. When asked what inspires her to play she states “ [I] kinda like to live by the fact that progress isn’t always linear. I may have a bad race but that doesn’t mean I’m trending down. I can still have hope and know there’s more chances and I’m still improving overall.” Maia’s goal for her swim season is to drop her times in her events. Her favorite thing about swim is “I love being able to compete with my team, working with them and doing my best for them is a great motivator.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Milynda Johnson is a freshman at Tumwater and she swims on the swim team. Her goal for this season is to get the best times she can. A quote that inspires Milynda is “It always seems impossible till it gets done”. Her favorite thing about swim teams is swimming the butterfly stroke.

Selma Abraham is on the diving team for Tumwater High School. Her favorite thing about the diving team is “getting new skills and the funny flopping video I make with my friends at practice”. Selma’s goal for the season is to improve her skills so that when they have a normal season she will be better. Something that inspires her to keep going is “The fact it’s only four years and I want to work hard to do the best I possibly can and get all my really hard skills”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brain Lee, a senior at Tumwater, does track for the high school. His favorite thing about track is “Competing and building up bonds with teammates as [the] season progresses”. This year Brain just wants to enjoy his senior year of track as much as possible. Brian says he is inspired by “my love for the sport and competitive drive”.

One of her favorite things about cross country “is the memories and friendships I make on our team.” Her goal for the season is to enjoy the short season they have as much as possible. Lydia states “What inspires [me] to succeed is to always give 100% in everything I do. If I don’t give 100%, it makes me question why am I even practicing so hard if I’m not going to do my best.”

 

 

 

 

Scout Abbott plays fast pitch for Tumwater High School. She says that her goal for this season is to “hit a home run in a game and have a good batting average”. Her favorite thing about fast pitch is the people who play and the strategy behind the sport. Scout says “I play because I love the game and want to be the best I can be”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jordan Hanson plays baseball for Tumwater High School. His goal for this year is “To be number [one] in our district, and to get noticed by colleges”. Jordan’s favorite thing about baseball is pitching. One thing that he says inspires him is “My peers around me, I want to be the best at what I do”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Camden Oram is a senior this year, and he plays both basketball and baseball for Tumwater. One quote that inspires him is “Hard work beats talent, when talent fails to work hard” -Derek Jeter. Camden’s goal for basketball and baseball is to be 1st in all league. He says his favorite things about baseball is that “Baseball is a way to put all outside things, positive or negative, and use them as motivation. In baseball, failure teaches more and more strength as well.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Aiden Aguero plays football and wrestling for Tumwater High School. He says his favorite things about football and wrestling are “I love the team work and Hitting in football. In wrestling I love the independence and the self growth that it provides because [of] how successful you are is completely dictated by how you practice, think, and [perform].” His goal for this year is to go undefeated throughout the football season. Then for wrestling Aiden wants to make it to state or he would like to place 1st in a tournament. Something that inspires him to succeed is “I always strive to be the best in everything. Even if I don’t turn out to be the best I have to STRIVE to be the best because that’s where you character it’s in the Striving.”

As you can see, Tumwater has some incredibly skilled athletes that are doing great things. Keep working hard athletes and never give up.
